The Ollie Swaddle takes a straightforward approach to swaddling with its wrap-and-secure design featuring hook-and-loop closures. Made from a polyester-spandex blend, this swaddle emphasizes moisture-wicking properties and adaptability, making it appealing to parents looking for a swaddle that can grow with their baby’s changing needs from birth to 14 pounds.

One of the Ollie’s standout features is its moisture-wicking fabric technology. The polyester-spandex blend is designed to pull moisture away from your baby’s skin, which can be particularly helpful for babies who tend to get sweaty during sleep. The fabric feels soft against the skin and maintains its breathability, though some parents may prefer natural fiber options.

The Ollie offers good versatility in how you can use it. You can swaddle with both arms in, one arm out, or both arms out, and continue using it around your child’s chest even after they’ve outgrown traditional swaddling. This adaptability means the swaddle can serve as a transition tool, providing that sense of security as your baby grows and develops.

Using the Ollie is generally straightforward – you wrap your baby and secure the hook-and-loop closures, then fasten the elastic loop at the feet. The process is intuitive enough for sleep-deprived parents to manage. However, very wiggly babies can present a challenge when trying to get the swaddle nice and snug, requiring a bit more patience and persistence.

The Ollie includes practical features for nighttime care. Most diaper changes can be handled by undoing the elastic loop and unwrapping from the bottom, keeping the main closures secure. This helps maintain your baby’s sense of security during changes, though smaller babies may require undoing the hook-and-loop fastening for access.

The swaddle comes in a one-size-fits-most design that works from birth to 14 pounds, which eliminates the guesswork around sizing and means it can accommodate your baby through most of the swaddling phase. This convenience factor is appreciated by many parents who don’t want to purchase multiple sizes over the newborn period. The construction quality is solid – both the fabric and velcro maintain their integrity and grip even after numerous washes with no shrinkage issues.

However, the Ollie has one significant drawback that stands out among all swaddles tested: the noise level. The hook-and-loop closures are exceptionally loud – measuring 88 decibels when opened, roughly equivalent to city traffic or a garbage disposal. This can be problematic if you need to make adjustments while your baby is sleeping, as the sound may wake them. Additionally, escape-proofing varies depending on arm position – babies with hands positioned at chest level can get out more easily, while those with arms by their sides tend to stay more securely swaddled.

The Ollie Swaddle offers solid versatility and useful moisture-wicking properties that work well for many families. It provides reasonable value for its durability and adaptability features. The transition capabilities and generous weight range add genuine convenience. However, the 88-decibel velcro noise is a significant consideration that could be problematic for light sleepers, and parents should be aware that security varies with arm positioning. If noise isn’t a major concern for your household and you plan to keep your baby’s arms positioned by their sides rather than at chest level, Ollie’s practical features and solid construction make it worth considering.

Thickness/TOG Ratings
The Ollie Swaddle has a  0.8 TOG rating.

Ease of Use
The Ollie is easy to use, just wrap them up and secure the hook and loop closures. Secure the elastic loop at your baby’s feet. The hook and loop closures are very noisy, though you shouldn’t need to undo the fastening for a diaper change, if your baby is small you may need to and if you need to re-adjust the swaddle whilst your baby is sleeping there is a chance the noise will wake them.

Diaper/Nappy Changes
You shouldn’t need to unswaddle for diaper changes, you can undo the elastic loop and unwrap. If your baby is very small, you may need to undo the hook and loop fastening.

Fabrics
The Ollie Swaddle is made of polyester and spandex fabric. This fabric has been designed to be breathable and wick moisture away from your baby.

Adaptability
You can swaddle with one or both arms out and continue to use the Ollie around your child’s chest, giving them a secure feeling.

Sizes
The Ollie comes in one size, though it says it can be used until 14 lbs/6.4 kgs. If your baby is not rolling or trying to roll, you can use it beyond the 14 lbs/6.4 kgs.

Escape proof?
Our testers found the Ollie easier to escape from when arms we to chest.

PROS:
Ease of use.
One size.
Adaptable, can be used once your baby is no longer swaddled.

CONS:
The hook and loop is loud, the noisiest of any swaddle we tested.
Some families found the swaddle made their babies quite hot.

We loved the Ollie!

We loved the Ollie! Tried quite a few other swaddles before we splurged and got the Ollie. The fabric was a bit warm and sometimes our little one would have sweaty feet. But always warm feet. The fabric is super soft. It’s a great swaddle for tall babies as it’s one size fits all. Also love that you can keep the top of the swaddle wrapped (with velcro) during diaper changes. Found it easy to use once I got the hang of it. The Velcro is aggressive and loud when you undo it. But our little one never broke out of it. So it did its job. Also love that you can easily swaddle with arms out as you transition out of the swaddle. Highly recommend the Ollie! Wish we had started with it sooner.
